“THE GARNISH THIEF” – The only one in Europe!

SUBJECT: The lady with the big-brim straw hat had better watch the edible garnishes of her disproportionately large cocktail! A naughty raccoon clinging to the palm tree, smilingly staring at the cocktail garnishes of pineapple and orange slices and the orange peel, and just about to steal them.

Raccoons are native to the Americas, instinctively very curious, and used to being close to humans, and sometimes they can be brave. The raccoon’s natural reaction to confrontation by a human is to freeze and stare at you. Maybe a bit afraid of you, but always waits to see what your next move will be. The raccoon will love you if you treat it to a banana.

The 2016 “THE GARNISH THIEF” limited edition number (200) sold out in the USA. This S.P. (Studio Proof) is from artist’s personal archive, therefore it is more valuable. This 12-color serigraph is numbered and hand-signed by SHAG (Josh Agle) for his second gallery in Europe, Budapest. Includes the Certificate of Authenticity (C.O.A.) issued by our gallery.

THE PROCESS OF CREATION: SHAG’s limited editions introduced in Budapest are produced using the silk-screen (serigraph) printing method. Serigraphy for additional color depth, saturation, density, and texture are a perfect match to SHAG’s painting style.

He is collaborating with Kolibri Art Studio atelier in Los Angeles for decades for unparalleled quality at enormous sizes for always a small, limited edition of 200 serigraphs only. Anywhere from 10 to 25 colors (some colors are printed twice for optimum quality) with hand color-separation, required 2 months to print since it is very labor-intensive to complete these unique editions.

His media choice is always the US-made, 100% rag 2 or 4-ply “Rising Museum Board” brand, acid-free, thick archival paper, only with 5cm margins left outside the live area. For the finish, SHAG requires a very expensive UV matte clear-coat application made for silk-screen printing for preserving the extra longevity of the serigraph.

FRAMING INFORMATION: Custom made 4cm wide white lacquer wood frame with 2cm widelime-green wood fillet and covered with 2mm non-reflective US made UltraVue® UV70 Museum-Glass https://tru-vue.com/solution/ultravue-uv70-glass/ for optimum archival longevity.
