Shag “HONEYMOON PHASE”

We are in the late 60’s… why?

Elvis Presley rented the mansion just before his marriage to Priscilla in 1967 for a year. Although the wedding was celebrated in style in Las Vegas, it was in Palm Springs where they took refuge for their honeymoon, and that is why now the house is known as “Elvis’s Hideaway.”

In the snapshot immortalized by Shag, we can surely see the members of Elvis’s bodyguard (known as the Memphis Mafia) socializing with the beehived-haired blonde triplets, SUPREMES lady singers, while the KING and his newlywed, with his impossible hair, rest outside in the pool.

Bob Alexander (of the Alexander Building Company) had William Krisel (of architects Palmer & Krisel) design this home for him and his wife back in the early 1960s.

This limited edition “HONEYMOON PHASE” (200) is almost sold out in the USA. We would like to thank SHAG for hand-signing, addressing and numbering this Artist Proof (A/P 29/30) from his archives for its second European gallery, at Budapest. Includes the Certificate of Authenticity (C.O.A.) issued by our gallery.

DESCRIPTION: SHAG’s limited editions introduced in Budapest are made using the silk-screen (serigraphy) printing method. Serigraphy for additional color depth, saturation, density and texture a perfect match to SHAG’s painting style.

He collaborates with Kolibri Art Studio atelier in Los Angeles for decades for unparalleled quality at enormous sizes for a small, limited edition of 200 serigraphs. Anywhere from 10 to 25 colors (some colors are printed twice for optimum quality) with hand color-separation required 2 months to print since it is very labor-intensive to complete these unique editions. His media choice is always the US-made, 100% rag, 2 or 4-ply “Rising Museum Board” brand, acid-free, thick archival paper, only with 5cm margins left outside the live area. For the finish, SHAG requires a very expensive UV matte clear coat application only made for silk-screen printing to preserve the serigraph print’s the extra longevity.
