“JUNGLE ROOM JAM” – Elvis Presley’s favorite room at Graceland

SHAG collaborated with Elvis Presley Enterprises after his visit to Graceland in 2022 to create a piece of art celebrating the most unusual space in the Memphis, Tennesse mansion, the Jungle Room. Graceland is where Elvis lived and was buried here.

Elvis furnished the themed room in the late 1960s with a collection of kitschy carved furniture and tiki statues, a working waterfall, and then notoriously had both the floor and the ceiling covered in green shag carpeting.

“I knew Elvis spent a lot of time in the Jungle Room and wanted to depict some phenomenal music creation happening in the space,” Shag explained.

The result, titled Jungle Room Jam, features Elvis playing guitar with an unidentified friend surrounded by the familiar and identifiable furnishings of the Jungle Room.

The “JUNGLE ROOM JAM” authorized/approved Elvis Presley Enterprises is an 13-color serigraph. Signed and numbered by SHAG and includes the C.O.A. issued by our gallery, Studio Proof (22/30).

THE PROCESS OF CREATION: SHAG’s limited editions introduced in Budapest are produced using the silk-screen (serigraph) printing method. Serigraphy for additional color depth, saturation, density, and texture is a perfect match to SHAG’s painting style.

He has been collaborating with Kolibri Art Studio atelier in Los Angeles for decades for unparalleled quality at enormous sizes for always a small, limited edition of 200 serigraphs only. Anywhere from 10 to 25 colors (some colors are printed twice for optimum quality) with hand color separation, it required 2 months to print since it is very labor-intensive to complete these unique editions. His media choice is always the US-made, 100% rag 2 or 4-ply “Rising Museum Board” brand, acid-free, thick archival paper, only with 5cm margins left outside the live area.

For the finish, SHAG requires a very expensive UV matte clear coat application which is made for silk-screen printing only, to preserve the extra longevity of the serigraph print.
