“THE HUNT FOR HALULU”

In Polynesian legend, the title comes from a mystical and bloodthirsty giant bird goddess, HALULU, from Hawaiian mythology, who feasted on human flesh and had claws all over his feathers.

The night scene takes place on a lost island in the Pacific Ocean, with incredible effects of lights and shadows caused by the flames of the skull- torches and the volcano’s fire.

You can see carved wooden idols, flaming skulls, and jungle plants surrounding a brave female warrior armed with a spear. The visual style of this fine art masterpiece inspired SHAG by the paintings of Edgar Leeteg and Doyle Harden.

Let THE HUNT FOR HALULU immerse you in a tropical night in the wild jungle from the safety of your favorite room!

This serigraph publication is very different from the others at the first time in his career, SHAG has created this work on black archival museum board paper, with hand-torn margins, raised on a floating matt board. The result is spectacular!

In Europe, HALULU HUNTING is only available here in Budapest or Madrid at the La Fiambera gallery!

The limited edition of 200 is ALMOST SOLD-OUT. We sincerely thank SHAG for providing this only-one Studio Proof from his own archive to his gallery in Budapest. This S/P 14/25 is hand-signed and numbered by SHAG. The serigraph includes the Certificate of Authenticity (C.O.A.) issued by the gallery.

DESCRIPTION: SHAG’s limited editions introduced in Budapest are made using the silk-screen (serigraphy) printing method. Serigraphy for additional color depth, saturation, density and texture a perfect match to SHAG’s painting style.

He collaborates with Kolibri Art Studio atelier in Los Angeles for decades for unparalleled quality at enormous sizes for a small, limited edition of 200 serigraphs. Anywhere from 10 to 25 colors (some colors are printed twice for optimum quality) with hand color-separation required 2 months to print since it is very labor-intensive to complete these unique editions. His media choice is always the US-made, 100% rag, 2 or 4-ply “Rising Museum Board” brand, acid-free, thick archival paper, only with 5cm margins left outside the live area. For the finish, SHAG requires a very expensive UV matte clear coat application only made for silk-screen printing to preserve the serigraph print’s the extra longevity.
