Shag “DOLCE, DOLCE, DOLCE” (Framed size 72 x 120cm)

SHAG was inspired by the classic film “La Dolce Vita” by Federico Fellini, with the protagonists Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Eckberg in the foreground. On the left, Sophia Loren and filmdirector husband, Carlo Ponti are sitting at the table, admiring the work of Fellini, who is on the right is jumping around in a short-sleeved shirt.

The artist effortlessly captures all of the comedy and drama of Rome in the 1960s with DOLCE, DOLCE, DOLCE serigraph. Drawing on inspiration from the work of Federico Fellini, this fine art print will make you feel as if you splashed in Trevi Fountain with the romance contained in a monochromatic memory.

As in all of SHAG’s serigraphs, some characters and situations confuse us and make us wonder what is happening, without the artist ever wanting to reveal all the jokes and humorous mysteries that surround his work.

This limited edition “DOLCE, DOLCE, DOLCE” (100) is SOLD OUT in the USA. We would like to thank SHAG for hand-signing, addressing and numbering this Artist Proof (A/P 13/25) from his archives for its second European gallery, Budapest. It includes the Certificate of Authenticity (C.O.A.) issued by our gallery.

DESCRIPTION: SHAG’s limited editions introduced in Budapest are made using the silk-screen (serigraphy) printing method. Serigraphy for additional color depth, saturation, density and texture a perfect match to SHAG’s painting style.
He collaborates with Kolibri Art Studio atelier in Los Angeles for decades for unparalleled quality at enormous sizes for a small, limited edition of 200 serigraphs. Anywhere from 10 to 25 colors (some colors are printed twice for optimum quality) with hand color-separation required 2 months to print since it is very labor-intensive to complete these unique editions. His media choice is always the US-made, 100% rag, 2 or 4-ply “Rising Museum Board” brand, acid-free, thick archival paper, only with 5cm margins left outside the live area. For the finish, SHAG requires a very expensive UV matte clear coat application only made for silk-screen printing to preserve the serigraph print’s the extra longevity.
